Available resources and facilities
The College of Natural and Computational Sciences is equipped with diverse and modern laboratory and research facilities that support both teaching and research. It has a General Biotechnology Laboratory for practical courses such as cell biology, general microbiology, principles of genetics, biochemistry, enzymology, and enzyme technology, as well as a Central Molecular Biology Laboratory where advanced molecular techniques such as DNA isolation, quantification and quality determination, PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, blotting, and genetic engineering are carried out. Both laboratories provide services not only to students and staff of the department but also to researchers from other units. Currently, the Department hosts four spacious laboratories furnished with essential equipment and instruments, including a re-circulation system for rearing fish larvae and fingerlings, and a modern Fish Breeding and Production facility located at the Main Campus of Hawassa University to strengthen practical fieldwork. In addition, there are three undergraduate laboratories where students conduct course-based experiments, a Solid-State and Laser Spectroscopy Laboratory dedicated to postgraduate research, and a Computational Laboratory that supports both undergraduate and postgraduate students in computer programming and internet-based learning. The College also provides sport and recreation facilities, including a football stadium, basketball courts, and other fields of play, creating a holistic academic and extracurricular environment.
Resources at Aquatic Sciences, Fisheries and Aquaculture
Department has four spacious laboratories equipped with some fundamental laboratory equipment and instruments and re-circulation facility to rear fish larvae and fingerlings.

We have one General Biotechnology Laboratory to carryout practical activities for different courses such as cell biology, general microbiology, and principles of genetics, biochemistry, enzymology and enzyme Technology.

The department emphasizes the importance of understanding natural resources, geological hazards, and environmental sustainability, preparing graduates to contribute to sectors such as mining, energy, construction, water resources, and environmental management.

The department has three undergraduate laboratories where students conduct experiments that are part of the curriculum in different semesters. There is a Solid-State and Laser Spectroscopy Laboratory for postgraduate research activities.

The department offers a comprehensive range of services, including specialised training in various Statistical software. Additionally, we provide in-depth Training Services focused on research methodology and Furthermore, our Science Research Consultancy Service.
Resources at Sport Sciences Department
We are equipped with a Stadium and a Basketball court providing facilities for various sports activities & events. The Stadium serves as a central hub for larger gatherings, while the Basketball court offers a dedicated space for basketball enthusiasts.
